The season will begin on Saturday, March 31st and conclude with our annual play-off day at Harvard University on June 2nd.  There will not be any games on Memorial Day Weekend.

Tournament Summary -

Our NESLL Black team is in Baltimore at the Brine Shootout, one of the Top recruiting tournaments in the country!!!  The New England programs represented in the tournament were NESLL, Laxachusetts and the Clams.

We kicked off the tournament on Sunday with a victory over Long Island Sting 9-5.  On Monday morning, in game two we faced off against a tough Calvert Hall team – it looked good with 3 minutes to go in the game with our boys up 7-5, but, Calvert Hall scored two quick goals to send it into overtime.  The NESLL boys lost the game 8-7 in sudden death.

In game three it was two teams from New England – NESLL vs. Laxachusetts. It turned out to be a very scrappy game – the NESLL team prevailed 10-6 – a great victory for our boys!!

The evening game against the Blaze was cancelled due to weather.

Tuesday morning NESLL faced Team Washington needing a win to guarantee placement in the Championship bracket (top 16 teams).  They took care of business 13-4 and earned a 9th seed in the single elimination play-offs.

In the first round NESLL faced a tough Boy’s Latin team and pulled out a come from behind victory 9-8!

The quarterfinal round featured NESLL (#9 Seed) vs. Tri-State (#1 Seed).  Tri-State had just won Champ Camp earlier in the week!  NESLL came out strong and dominated the game!!!  Final score, 9-2!

Haverford was next in the Semi-finals – They were the top HS team in the country this past Spring!  NESLL scoreed the first 4 goals and finished the half up 4-1!  In the second half the continued to dominate mounting a 9-1 score with 3 1/2 minutes to go in the game.  Haverford scored a couple in the end but NESLL took the game 9-3!

NESLL ADVANCES TO THE FINALS!!!!

The other semifinal game was the Clams vs. Calvert Hall – almost an all New England final!!!  Calvert Hall prevailed. Congratulations to the Clams for a great tournament!

The finals pit the NESLL Black team vs Calvert Hall, a re-match from earlier in the tournament.  Calvert Hall started out scoring the first two goals of the game – NESLL rebounded to tie the game 2-2 behind Sam Davis’ (Penn State) two goals.  Calvert Hall ran off the next seven goals to mount a 9-2 lead which proved to be too much for NESLL to come back from.  The final score was 11-6 in favor of Calvert Hall.

The Brine Shootout competitive tournament features 28 of the top teams in the country.  Considered by many as one of the top recruiting tournaments in the country!  The sidelines were filled with the top collegiate coaches – Virginia, North Carolina, Duke, Penn State, Loyola, Georgetown, UMBC, Colgate, Lafayette, Maryland, Brown, Middlebury, Michigan, High Point, Army, Air Force, Johns Hopkins, Denver, Princeton, Drexel, Fairfield, Navy, UMass, …… just to name a few!

The Brine Shootout proved to be one of the top recruiting tournaments in the country!  Our boys enjoyed GREAT exposure at the tournament – we look forward to more college placements in the near future as a result.
